Privacy Policy for Second Drawer Down
Last updated: August 30, 2026
Second Drawer Down ("the app") is developed by My Impossible Things LLC ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.
Summary
By default, your recipes and photos stay entirely on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you specifically choose to (like connecting Google Drive, or using AI-assisted photo import). We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising — the app doesn't contain any ad or ad-tracking technology at all.
Information We Collect
Recipes and photos you add. By default, these are stored only on your device, in the app's own local storage. They are never transmitted anywhere unless you explicitly choose one of the options below.
Google Account information (only if you choose to connect Google Drive). If you sign in with Google, the app requests access to your Google account email and to a single app-created folder in your Google Drive ("Second Drawer Down"), used to back up your recipes and, if you choose "Google Drive" under Photo Storage settings, your recipe photos. We do not access any other files or folders in your Drive.
Photos submitted for AI-assisted import. If you use "Import from a Photo," the photo(s) you select are sent securely to our backend server, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude API to extract recipe text (title, ingredients, steps) from the image. These photos are used only to perform this extraction and are not stored longer than needed to process the request, and are not used to train any AI model.
Kindle email address (only if you choose to use Send to Kindle). If you save a Kindle email address and use this feature, that address is used solely to deliver your generated recipe book to your Kindle device, via a transactional email service.
There is currently no way to purchase additional credits within the app — every user gets 5 free AI-assisted imports, and unlimited free manual/text-file import, with no payment feature active in this version. If in-app purchasing is added in a future update, this policy will be updated to describe it before that update is released.
How We Use Information
We use the information above solely to provide the features you've chosen to use: backing up your recipes, extracting recipe text from a photo you submit, delivering a book to your Kindle, or processing a credit purchase. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your information to third parties.
Third-Party Services
- Google (Sign-In and Drive) — only if you connect your Google account.
- Anthropic — only when you use AI-assisted photo import.
- Our own backend (Cloudflare) — processes AI import requests and Kindle delivery; does not independently retain your recipe content beyond what's needed to complete these actions.
Your Choices
- Photo storage location can be changed anytime in Settings — "On This Device" (default) or "Google Drive."
- Disconnecting Google Drive at any time in Settings stops any further backup; recipes already on your device remain there.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally-stored data from your device. Data previously backed up to your own Google Drive remains in your Drive until you delete it yourself.
Children's Privacy
Second Drawer Down is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
